True Country Music !!!!
Band/artist history
In a time when country music seems to be losing touch with its roots more and more everyday, its good to know there are still artists like Brian Chicoine. With traditional country melodies, rythyms and classic lyrical themes like heartache, liquor and prison, Brian keeps the spirit of country music's past alive and well. Born in 1973 in the small tobacco farm town of East Windsor, Connecticut. Brian grew up with his family and was exposed to a variety of musical sounds ranging from LORETTA LYNN, JOHNNY CASH, HANK WILLIAMS, BUDDY HOLLY, WAYLON JENNINGS, FARON YOUNG to later sounds of Country Music. In discovering DWIGHT YOAKAM he found a musical mentor in both songwriting and career managing. Through high school and his early 20's Brian played in various rock bands giving him more insight to music and the business. Moving to Nashville in the late 90's, Brian polished is craft of songwriting and live performance. Playing local clubs on Lower Broadway such as LAYLA's BLUEGRASS INN and ROBERT's WESTERN WORLD where he shared the same stages as artists like BR5-49, JYPSI and HANK WILLIAMS III. Brian continued to play in and around Nashville until 2008. Returning home to his roots in New England to freshen his style, Brian recorded the Demo album HONKY-TONKS, HEARTACHES & GOODBYES. An album of 12 original songs written and performed in their entirety by Brian himself. The album has received high praise and Brian begins performing in the New England area to make a name for traditional country in the area. In the Summer of 2008 Brian began releasing his tribute to classic country music titled "SONGS FROM THE BAR ROOM JUKEBOX". This CD series, now on its 3rd volume, is a collection of Brian's take on his favorite country songs that influenced him throughout the years. Containing original instrument tracks performed by Brian himself, he offers his thank you to the artist and songs that made country music great. Brian has kept the Spirit of Indie music and DIY principals alive in his music and performance as well. He records everything in house and presses CDs in house as well in a nod to the lo-fi of the past. Brian also has kept his CD prices at only $5.00 a piece. knowing that in this day in age the dollar needs to be stretched as far as possible. Brian's live performances are also a very minimalist affair, but not compromising anything in the process. A one man operation, Brian still entertains and keeps a crowd going whatever the size or whatever the venue. From Farmer's Markets, VFW Halls, Rest Homes to Honky-Tonk Bar Rooms, Brian Chicoine brings traditional country music to em all.
