Brett Perkins is an American performing songwriter from Los Angeles, currently living in Malmø, Sweden, with multiple album releases, film and tv song placements and 33 countries toured so far. His style is a blend of a blend of Americana, Brit Pop, Rock, Soul & Folk story songs, with influences including The Beatles and Burt Bacharach, and recent albums receiving comparisons to George Harrison, Elvis Costello and Crowded House, along with more contemporary artists like John Mayer and Louden Wainwright III.
Brett's released a total of 7 albums, including 3 solo efforts and three additional singles in Scandanavia: Staring At The Sun (1998), Last Bus Home (2000) and Danish Weather (2003) - which generated two Hot Rotation national radio singles. More recent singles 'Closer' (2006), 'Ed & Bettys' (2007) and 'When You Gonna Figure It Out' (2008) have also generated national, regional and local airplay while many of his co-written songs also appear on other artists albums including the debut Top 10 single and number one 'MTV/Boogie' video, 'Breaking News', by Copenhagen Records artist Mads Langer.
Bretts' vocal work can be heard on a number of other artist albums as well, including the 2000 release by Scottish supergroup Runrig and 2008 release by Amalie Riis. In addition, his co-written songs with Una Healy (IRE), Boo Hewerdine (UK), Tom Kimmel (US), Simon Lynge (DK), Doctor Millar (IRE), Teitur (DK), Kevin Welch (US) and many more have received extensive live play.
With musical roots honed in the early 80's L.A. club scene, as lead singer/songwriter of power pop band 'The Sneaks', (with two albums and a national sponsorship with Vans' Shoes) and works appearing in film and t.v. in the US, Brett also has a long involvement in the music industry as an advocate for songwriters' rights, including time as a C.E.O. for the National Academy of Songwriters, Publisher of SongTalk Magazine, Producer of the Salute To The American Songwriter concerts, Executive Director of the Kerrville Folk Festival Foundation (Texas) and Founding Partner of the Unisong International Songwriting Contest.
