Blood Orange Studios was originaly created as a permanent home and rehearsal/recording space for the band The Blood Orange Project. Hidden away inside the un-assuming studios of KTOX 1340AM Radio in Needles, California sits a full production studio and rehearsal area complete with control room monitoring and P/A. At the heart of the system is a state of the art computer custom built by ADK Pro Audio ( http://www.adkproaudio.com/ ), the same company that built the recording systems for U2's Vertigo World Tour. You cant find a better recording system in the area. The studios are now open for artists in the Tri-State to record their Demo's in a professional environment without paying the price of traveling to Vegas or Pheonix.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Dave Hayes has been in and around the music business for over 30 years. As a musician Dave has been playing keyboards his whole life, been in many bands including the underground cult phenomenon World 32. Dave owned and operated Doctor Dream Records in Orange, California. What started as a record store turned into one of the largest indie record labels in California with worldwide distribution and their own recording studios. Dave has produced over 150 albums and worked with artists from bands such as Social Distortion, Agent Orange, Oingo Boingo, Wall Of Voodoo, The Cadillac Tramps, The Swamp Zombies and many more. Dave sold to Mercury/Polygram in the 90's and moved to the Tri-State area to relax and run a radio station... not!
Paul Fix is a recording engineer/studio musician with over 20 years experience. Paul received his education at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA, which included recording engineering, artist development, production and music theory. Paul also has 12 years of classical piano training. Paul has recorded many styles of music from metal to electronica to gospel and everything in between. Paul also writes and arranges orchestral/movie scores for film and television.
Clayton McVicker is an accomplished studio musician with over 30 years experience playing guitar and working in the music industry. He took his first studio gig at age 15 and never looked back. He has played with many world class musicians. He is also a master gear head when it comes to building custom guitars. Clayton and Paul ran "The Studio" in Fort Mohave, Arizona, where they recorded and produced many local bands.
