Birger Niessen Audio
My name is Birger and I'm a producer and audioengineer from cologne, germany. I love to work in my own recording and mixing studio in downtown cologne. Now I'm still 20 years in the business.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I started songwriting and (live)mixing as a student. I took my first steps at a little rock festival in west germany, worked in several studios as an assistant engineer and co-producer. Since 2015 I run my own songwriting-, mixing and masteringstudio in the centre of cologne. I'm a specialist for popmusic and different electronic styles.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I worked as a musician and tour-keyboarder in several Indiebands like SOUVENIR SEASON and A MILLION PRETTY THINGS. We still touring germany and europe.
Your musical influences
Oh, that's a difficult question ;-) I love different styles of music. I startet with bands like Led Zepplin, Genesis (with Mr. Gabriel of course),love to listen to rock and folkmusic (not the german way ;-)). But I'm still fell in love with electronic music and artists like WEVAL, HANNES BIEGER, M83, MUTEMATH and so on.
What equipment do you use?
I'm still a lover of professional analog Audiohardware from Brands like Neve, Elysia, SSL, SPL, Amek, FOCAL and so on. But my own Studio is a classical hybridstudio: I love to work in my mixed analog and digital dimension. I'm owner of several hardware synths.
I'm working with DAWs like Studio One and Protools.
