Mix equal parts punk, new wave, pop and rock, blend furiously, and bake at wicked high heat until crunchy! That's the quick deskription of the sound of the Vancouver, BC, Canada's Betty Kracker!
Band/artist history
The current lineup features original members Shannon Hallett (drums, vocals) and Lisa e (guitar, vocals), plus Trevor Thompson (guitar, vocals, also in The Rain and The Sidewalk) on guitar and Ryan Schmidt (bass, vocals, ex-Salmon Arm, ex-Motorama) who joined in 2007. Betty Kracker have just released Bent Outta Shape, a new CD combination of punknroll edge with dips into postpunk and progmetal. The new line-up debuted at Facefest 2007 to a packed Railway Club in Vancouver, and the band has performed many terrific shows through the last couple of years. The debut ep Easy Bay Coven was released in October 2006 to national acclaim (The Nerve, Exclaim, MaximumRockandRoll, Absolute Underground all loved it). Betty Kracker kicked off their live music takeover in 2004 at Vancouver's FaceFest, at the historic Railway Club. Dozens of shows in the Vancouver area ensued. The song "S.C.W." was recorded soon after at FacePlant for the Red Cat Records anti-Gordon Campbell (BC premier) compilation Citizen's Rule, released in spring of 2005.
