Hello, my name is Joel Beehn, also known as "Beehn". I was born in 2006 in a small town in Illinois. My passions include baseball, aviation, video games, and of course, music. I began this project as a way to pass the time during quarantine and I've been dedicated to it ever since. I write for myself but I also hope to connect with others who share my taste in music.
Band/artist history
My passion for music and my desire to create my own music began during my childhood. My dad introduced me to the game Guitar Hero, and I immediately fell in love with it. I started playing as soon as I was able to hold the plastic guitar, and I particularly liked metal music because it was more challenging and fun to play. My dad encouraged me to start playing a real guitar, and I taught myself how to play. My mom recorded me playing "Plug in Baby" by Muse and posted it on Facebook, where it received a lot of views and I became known as "the guitar kid" in my community. In 2017, I discovered the band Periphery, which greatly impacted my taste in music and furthered my interest in creating my own music. In late 2019, I bought an audio interface and learned about DAWs. I wrote my first song, which wasn't great but was a valuable learning experience. I wrote basic metal songs for a while until I found inspiration from a Tesseract song. This led to my most significant songwriting breakthrough, which was in a song later known as Defiance. This song was a turning point in my musical education and where I truly found my own in music creation. This song was included in my debut album, which was released on July 2, 2022. Currently, I am working on my second album and enjoying creating music more than ever.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I have not. Beehn is a studio project and it would take some serious convincing for me to play live. I'm not saying it will never happen, I'm just saying it PROBABLY won't happen.
