Abiogenesis is a rock fusion band from Dimapur, Nagaland, India. Their exploration and experimentation resulted in evolving a new world music genre which they have named it Howey Music which is a fusion of Naga folk with rock and other forms of modern music. Howey in another word is Abiogenesis identity and brand of music.
Adding to their unigue sound, they play a new wind musical instrument called Bamhum, invented by a band member ? Moa Subong. Bamhum ia a leading instrument in most of their tracks. Many say that musical instrument has not been invented for the last 100 years and that most other claimed ones are only re-invention of existing ones. Bamhum is totally a new concept with new mechanism.
They released their first Howey album titled ?Aeon Spell? through Saregama in June 2007. Aeon Spell was listed in the 50th Grammy Awards in 2 categories-Field 16 - World Music Category 75 - Best Contemporary World Music Album 4 - RockCategory 16 - Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals.. They have recently released their 2nd Howey album ?Rustic Relish?on 20th August 08 through it's Indie label APH Records along with it's global Marketing Collaboraters like CD Baby, USA and Super D chain stores and more than 60 digital distribution companies like Apple itunes, Rhapsody, Napsters, amazon etc. The album is priced at Rs 100/- in India and $ 10/- (USD) in other countries. The CDs will be distributed worldwide through CD Baby, USA and digital downloads through distribution companys like Apple itunes, Napsters, Amazon etc. Aeon Spell had only 5 tracks with Howey numbers, but Rustic relish is total Howey as the response for Howey was overwhelming in their first album. Both their albums were recorded at their Soul Speak studio in Dimapur and the sound mastering by Imli Subong.
