Apademak, was a lion-headed warrior god worshiped in Nubia. He may, as Maahes, have been imported to Egypt. This lion god was used as a sacred guardian of the deceased Pharaoh. Anyone who touched the Pharaoh's grave was said to be cursed by this Apademak.
In Ancient Nubian religion, lion-god. Apademak was called "The Lord of Royal Power." In Nubia, with the kingdoms of Cush, the royal throne was always depicted as a lion. Temple reliefs show kings subdued by lions, and even eaten.
Apademak is often depicted as a man with the head of a lion or entirely as a lion. Frequently he is holding a bow (and arrow) with which he shoots enemies, or else he is holding shackled enemies.
