AM Band

AM Band are an energetic Czech alternative hard rock trio that are passionate about unique songwriting, the underground music scene and wailing guitar solos.

They have recorded seven albums so far, their latest, Animal Inside, was written during lockdown and reflects the desperation and disconnection to those around us that many people felt during those times. On the other hand, this gave the band a lot of time to perfect the tracks, making this their most comprehensive album to date.

Animal Inside, is available to stream on all major platforms as of 1st June 2024

AM Band have been around for over 20 years, and their energy is as strong as ever.

Our guitarist and singer, Ondrej, started the band in his hometown Karvina in 2003, in his garage, with his dad and a drummer called Shaman. When Ondrej moved to Brno we completely re-invented the band, wrote a couple of new albums with a more modern sound and new musicians. It took a while to build it back up, wed established ourselves fairly well in Karvina, and it was difficult to try and rebuild that in a new city, we took a bit of a hiatus and Ondrej joined a couple of local revival bands, where he met Vlado.

Loads, we're a live band, we're all about the energy. We've played all sorts of venues and events, from pubs, to clubs, to private parties and festivals. One of the highlights for us would definitely be playing Rock for People in 2009, it was one of the biggest and most responsive audiences weve ever played for, it was a great experience!

When Ondrej started the band, the influences of Jimi Hendrix and Thin Lizzy were clearly heard, as well as being the reason he started playing, but after meeting Vlado the sound took on some other influence. In the newer albums you can hear more influence from bands such as Highly Suspect, Rival Sons and Rage Against the Machine.

Ondrej is a Marshall lover, he tends to use an original Marshall Superlead, if theres space for it! If not, hes usually seen with a Fender Hotrod, and he recently limited his pedal board after buying Kotzens Tech 21 Multi-Effect Pedal. Being a lefty, a lot of his guitars are custom made by a friend in the Czech Republic, or upsidedown converted right-handers. Vlado uses a Mark Bass and also loves the Gallean Krueger amps. Peter can play almost anything, hes currently using a Sonor Kit with custom cymbals.
