hi. we're a boy named earth, a four-headed monster.
Band/artist history
It's laid out in the video pretty nicely, but, for those who love text: Evan, Dan, and Tom were in a band called Aurora several years ago. Evan and Tom remained on guitar, but Dan took over the drumming duties instead of catgut captain. Additionally, their friend Brian Tarentinto played bass. Long story short, Brian had a falling out with a few of the guys, so breaking up was the neccesary solution. In the meantime, Evan and Dan started writing a "rock opera" based around a loosely constructed story, Evan's guitar, and Dan's violin. These songs became our first album, Seasons. I (Steve) didn't know about any of this until I was approached by Evan one day during school. Simply, he asked me, "How many bands are you in right now." Naturally, I answered something silly. "31." His next question: "How would you like to be in 32?" The rest is history.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Hopewell Township, NJ is an absolute wasteland for music venues. We do play live on occasion, but there are very few opportunities to play. We did, however, get the chance to play at the world-famous Trocadero Theater in Philadelphia, PA, as part of the Exposure Music Festival. We finished in 2nd place out of 60 bands at said festival.
Your musical influences
It's all detailed in the video.
What equipment do you use?
Evan-strat-style knockoff guitar, Marshall MGFX100 amp, Digitech RP50 multi-effects pedal. Tom-Fender Telecaster, Fender Hot Rod Deluxe Dan-Fender Electric Violin, Fender Hot Rod Deluxe Steve-Pearl Export Series kit, Sabian Cymbals.
Anything else?
Some nice things people have said about us: The Music Freelancer/Indie Music Stop http://themusicfreelancer.blogspot.com/2008/03/boy-named-earth-seasons-review.html "Intelligent, textual, and rich." "It sounds like The Mars Volta mixed with bluegrass. But it's cool!"
