Your musical influences
My musical taste isn't just limited to one genre or movement. My listening criteria is based on artist's talent, creativity, and whether they put their heart and soul into their music (not just commercial drive, which has crippled the industry nowadays). That principle applies to ALL music - from classical to death metal. Pink Floyd is a good example of just what I mean.
There was a time when I really got into metal, back when metal was at its prime, inspired by Slayer, Pantera, Megadeth, Type O Negative, Tool, and old Metallica (emphasis on old, new Metallica sucks!)
Over the years, I have become fascinated with the development of electronic artform, and I don't just mean trance and techno, which became so popular and commercialized lately. I mean all electronic music - artists like Brian Eno, Depeche Mode, David Bowie, Nine Inch Nails, Aphex Twin, Future Sound Of London, and other experimental and innovative musicians.
Therefore, , electronic by nature, is a mixture of all of the above, with additions from myself, sometimes hard and industrial, sometimes mellow and ambient, but I always try to keep it harmonical and melodic, even when it's heavy and noisy.
What equipment do you use?
Due to limited funds, I use my PC coupled with a MIDI controller for all audio recording, editing, sequencing, and mixing purposes. Not to mention my guitar with pedals, amps, and other gizmos that go with it.
Not much, I know, but I strongly believe that someone talented and dedicated can write something enjoyable in a crappy home studio, while without such qualities and abilities there will be nothing but shit, and no professional studio with a million dollar SSL console will help you with that problem, except that maybe upgrade it to Hi-Fi shit (just turn on the radio or go to your local record store and you will find plenty of evidence :)
