It all started with a small insect which they call it "fire-fly" but in IsiNdebele it is called "Smagameru". Smegamaiza was first started by Nkosi Nkisinathi (Nathi-Boy) in Kwandebele, Mpumalanga, watervaal "A". He started doing music in 2004 and pushed his Music till he came to Gauteng to get a proper education and it was so fortunate for him to publish the name and music, he recruted Aviwe Sono (Vixx) at school choirs and formed the group "Smegamaiza" the name didnt change and now the group became a successful. Aviwe Sono he is from Eastern Cape, Barkley East, he started singing in primary emitating Brenda fassie's songs. They all live in Olievenhoutbosch (Smegamaiza) They meet in 2010. In their way they met a guy called Cheez-Boy and the trio features each other in their music up untill they formed a group called "Smega-Cheezy" (Full of Burger and Cheesy) and they done super hits like "Habashwe, Spinkinini, Uyagobhoza and more. Smegamaiza worked with companies like V-kay music productions the one and first record that took Smegamiza's Music serious, followed by Indaba music productions and Hiltech Media. Smegamaiza associated acts in their Journey is: Philly-V, RevengerZ, Limpopo BenguZ, Focus Crew, Thulani, Benzoq and Khakheni.

Smega- GOAL is to see our music well known by lot of people as we have plenty of hit songs that contains lot of message on it. Our music always focusing on issues like Social, political and environmental issues, lastly is to see South African music grow bigger and keeping up on encouraging people in different situation But not to harass or violate other peoples rights.
