after years, i finally had the opportunity to record a few of my compositions for this cd. on simple pleasures, i play all the instruments (g&l comanche electric, carvin cobalt 850 electric/acoustic, fender b58 banjo, galveston mandolin, hohner big river harp, bodhran, cort bass, suzuki omnichord system 100, ocean drum and a home-made shaker). i did it all on a borrowed tascam dp-01 fx/cd and passed the results through cakewalk, blazemedia, protracks plus and anything else i could find. i used a zoom7010 effect pedal. the volumes are not as high as i'd like, but i'm just a tinkerer -- new to this whole process. thanks to julie, who let me borrow the tascam which taught me so much about the process. thanks to kay, who finally convinced me after two years to try to put one of the songs on the radio (winter soulstice) and who called me so i could hear it being broadcast. thanks to tim, aane, jerry, rick, doug, julie, maggie, eric, mike, greg, steve, bill and too-numerous-to-mention terrific musicians. and thanks to joan and jane who have been my pillars of support for a lifetime. and thanks to erin, who continues to surprise me and make me proud. and thanks to everyone who took the time to listen to the music and think about the words as i stumble toward a finished product.
