Already making a profound impact in the underground hip-hop community, New York City has found the next artist worthy of spotlight attention. Known on the streets as City Scholar is a young man bringing back what is real about life, love, passion, and music. No fluff. No muss. His words are worth taking to heart, synched with rhythms and melodies that make you want to move your body and play on repeat. As a native of Ghana, Africa, City Scholar brings multiple perspectives to a world seen mostly through a narrow lens. The creation is a rare blend between a good roll in the mud and a glass of chardonnay - refreshing to hear, while staying gritty and raw. It has guts.
While you rest, he works. And while you work, he works harder. No time was wasted in reaching many notable accomplishments. When you weren’t aware, it was City Scholar that created a promo that aired on Hot 97’s Megatron Street Radio Show. He has one movie soundtrack and countless mixtape appearances under his belt listed along side many A-list artists. Most recently, his music was featured on “Unsigned to Get Signed” by DJ Denox hosted by STAT QUO of Shady/Aftermath records. He also boasts of his worldwide status on the hit track “Internationally Known”, and it is not a gimmick. You can hear City over the seas picked up in rotation on stations such as Rennes 95.9FM in France. But not to be overlooked is the impact he has had in the underground hip-hop community right here in New York City. Often noted for his tireless efforts in the studio, he is just as strong as a live performer with memorable performances at The Remote Lounge, Dillon’s, Club City, and Pyramid to name only a few.
Available now you can find City Scholar’s debut street album “The Feel Good Movement, Vol. 1.” Hosted by DJ B-Roc (Sean Kingston’s dj) and DJ Bedtyme 357(Remy Ma’s dj). Unlike most first releases, this is a fine tuned cd that renders experience, knowledge and lyricism. It’s ahead of its time, and proves that talent and passion are the ultimate combination. He has constructed pieces that fit together in an inspirational and meaningful arrangement.
He’ll tell you his art is not just about self improvement, but it is about bringing about change and evolving the world of hip-hop on all levels. He is a true player in the game channeling creativity, integrity, and strength and spreading it through the many artists that he works with.
