Jom Ahawa (or Jom Ahawa) is a German singer/songwriter, today living in Berlin. He started as the singer of a Highschool band, covering Deep Purple first, then also acting with own songs. In the course of time, the band’s style became more and more academic and sophisticated, adding a brass section and emphasizing instrumental virtuosity and jazzy harmonics.
Looking for a more melodic, rocky and soulful style, Jom left that band and, for a couple of years, checked out different formations in different towns. He experimented with shamanic sustances also, even on stage.
His long-time interest in meditation, however, led him to inner experiences with real living spirits and saints, who showed him more direct ways to the sources of creativity.
In his home studio, he started collecting his new ideas and working them out.
Actually, his songs combine soulful melodies with symbolic lyrics.
The music is often based on guitar strums and pickings and solid bass lines, sometimes embedding loops or analog sweeps, too.
Joms voice covers a huge gamut and dynamic range, which he often utilizes in his songwriting.
