What do you get when you blend together the Arrogance of Warner Robins, Georgia, the Griminess of Macon, Georgia and the Hiphop Influence of Atlanta, Georgia? None other than 26 year old artist Jamieson "Ruth Chris" Black. At first glance, Ruth Chris just seemed to be another kid with hopes of being famous and making it out of his small town, but given a chance to get personal with him you'll see different. " Growing up in Macon and Warner Robins was rough, and to the untrained eye it seems to be nothing but negative". He respected the art of poetry and loved to blend it with the art of music. At age 8 he bought his first rap record and instantly fell in love with hiphop. at age 12, after discovering he to had the ability to produce his own lyrics with his own rhythm, he started writing verses of his own. By integrating self-consciousness and sincerity into his otherwise swagger filled Dirty South style of rap, Ruth Chris stood out among the masses of up-and-coming local southern MCs trying to break nationally in early 2008. Perhaps more than anything, Ruth Chris's dysfunctional youth shapes his ideology, which also features the usual Dirty South themes of getting crunk, living large, hustling, representing the South, and gaining respect. He's fairly open about his past experiences, keeping a sense of faith, juxtaposing this earnest quality with his sometimes reckless mentality. When he grouped PALOMINO MUZIK in 2008, he played between self-expression and popular form, often compromising these often competing priorities in the process. He never really crossed over, remaining mostly that southern artist with that southern unique sound.
