Greetings!
My music combines my love of funk, jazz, electronic and ambient sounds.I like the drums to move organically. I like to add live percussion whenever possible. I like to play real bass if it fits the vibe of the particular track. This stuff isn't just thrown together in a hurry cut-and-paste stylee! I like to craft...
'Nice work! Chilled - but with substance!' - Singer Leigh Myles
'feels good floatin on ur music.
very comfortable to me!
and feel musical intelligence in ur beats' Miki Miki
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I played bass in reggae/funk/rock outfits in South London the 80s, moved into recording, production, writing later. I'm told you can definitely hear the reggae vibe!
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
There's too much going on in my life at the moment to gig, though there's nothing like it...
Your musical influences
Lots of people: dub from Tommy McCook and all those early guys (comes from living and gigging around the Brixton area in South London in the early 80s)... Lonnie Liston Smith... Weather Report.(particularly 'Mysterious Traveller'.. Herbie Hancock (my favourite album being 1975's 'Manchild')... Incognito... Prince... several decades of all kinds of things...if you really dislike something it's an influence too! There's something to learn from in any music.
What equipment do you use?
My Ibanez bass (had it for 28 years!), my fabulous new Dean Performer acoustic bass, Logic Pro and some cool percussion from The Early Learning Centre (wicked triangle, guys) amongst other places.
Anything else?
Many thanks to Norway's Trond Foss for his great guitar playing on the new mix of Mindshift. Bergen's finest rocks on!
