6Bit
6Bit is a goth/industrial/punk/metal act from south Louisiana. We write songs about vampirism, the occult, religion, politics, and life's little disappointments.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
6Bit began as pretty crappy experimental electronic music, made only by me (Nails). I then gained a partner to make the music with, and it became more industrial. I formed a full band, the parnter and I parted ways, and 6Bit began to write more blues-oriented 'goth rock'. Now, years later, 6Bit is (currently) five men who make dark indie/metal/punk with noticeable industrial elements in almost every song. I like it this way, but everything must grow if it doesn't want to die.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Not at the moment.
Your musical influences
A combination of old punk, old industrial, black metal, hard rock, art-rock, and 80's synth pop/new wave, and the goth acts that I've been into throughout the years, all influence myself and my band mates. Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Type O Negative, KISS, Marilyn Manson, Ramones, Misfits, Sex Pistols, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Cradle of Filth, and Bjork are who influence 6Bit's sound the most, I would say. If I've left anyone out, then shame on me.
What equipment do you use?
6Bit records, mixes, and engineers with Sonic Foundry software, such as Acid Pro and Sound Forge. I also use Fruity Loops for some of the beats, as well as various cheap-as-free sampling programs that I find online.
