3 Cent Hero started out first of all along time ago with different members and a different name. They started out as Teenage Prostitutes, and i'm pretty sure the line-up consisted of Mike VanHaaren, Mike James and Charlie James, and man were they ever a prize to hear and look at. they recorded one tape and it still exists today. if you would like a TP tape ask mike or mike at a show and they will most likely give u one. well i don't know whatever happenned to that band but it was before my time. Next came Twentyodd Somethin', there were too many line-up changes to name but some of the members that i recall are Marlin and Dustin Struty, Jesse Preeper, Cory Gurnett, Keith Kaskas, Brian Shlonnergan and thats all i remember being before my time as well. anyways mike and mike asked me to sing so i sang some crappy cover songs and somehow marlin ended up playin guitar as well as mike,(i don't think he was asked too, he just ended up playing for us, mostly old blink songs) that went about as far as four kids that didn't know what they were doing could do, plus marlin sold his guitar for two 40 oz. Old English's. we sorta didn't play much anymore, mostly just mike and mike playing guitar and drums together. Me and Mike ended up moving to calgary, with hopes of makin it in the big city, and hopes of a drummer following them there. 1 1/2 years later no vanhaaren. The name 3 Cent Hero came about in calgary and mike and i moved back to Williams Lake and started the band up with vanhaaren and cory gurnett. we played a bunch of shows, but none of the music or songs were ours, just ones cory wrote and sang so we decided we needed our own sound and then it just ended up the 3 of us, and thats how we like it i guess. we've played with such bands as The Hextalls, Stutterfly, Kook Show, Blinded, Closet Monster, and many more including many great williams lake local bands. And thanks too local fans who support us we are still here and playing and putting on local shows.Have you performed in front of an audience?yes we do, we love it, when people sing along
