Band/artist history
Tony "2Tone" started recording before he began college and life has not been the same for him ever since!
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Not at the moment.
Your musical influences
"2Tone" Tony B. has grown up his whole life listening to the music of his dad and uncle who, aside from being great musicians, were also the grand prize winners of many annual Billboard Songwriting Contests. He found something wonderful in hearing a song grow for weeks, and sometimes months, all the way from the first few lines and chords written to the very end as the final mix came out of the monitor. That is where music began for 2Tone. As far as popular influences go, the following have helped him find his individual style... The Beatles and The Beach Boys, who are just hands down two of the most original and influential bands that crafted music into what it is today. Although 2Tone knows he doesn't sound much like them most of the time you'd be surprised where a lot of his ideas come from, regardless of the music genre.... Queen, because their music is so interesting you can't stop listening for even one note.... Eminem because he's original and still probably has the best flow of anyone.... The Black Eyed Peas, who mix modern pop music up a lot and never conform to just one style.... Dre productions, Neptunes productions, Timbaland productions and as much as 2Tone hates to say it, Kanye West productions, because they all know where to start with a mood and take their songs from there, and the mixing and production techniques they use are truly top of the line.... Outkast has always impressed 2Tone with their flow style and hooks.... Linkin Park (and Fort Minor) who are different in a GREAT way. They play with the listener's emotions by sounding hard as Metallica one second and soft as a Mozart the next.... System of a Down because they're screaming in your face, but they can still sing.... Rage Against the Machine because they are RAW ENERGY and they have some of the funkiest grooves and flows known to man.... Red Hot Chili Peppers because they are like the softcore mello'd out version of Rage.... Sublime for sounding so smooth but somehow a little gritty at the same time.... Garth Brooks because he has such a versatile voice plus he's a fireball of an entertainer.... Rascal Flatts have harmonies that no one today can beat.... Guns 'N' Roses for Appetite of Destruction, one of the greatest albums of all time.... Muse, who is the best and most original band that no one in America has heard of... 2Tone must also admit that there's a lot of rappers who he likes in some songs and hates in others (usually this applies to the more "ghetto" rappers).... and there's a MILLION more artists that he can't think of right now who have in one way or another inspired him and his songs...
What equipment do you use?
MPC 2000 mainly, along with various old keyboards.
Anything else?
2Tone is young and willing to try anything... MUSICALLY, of course!
