The Old Bat Across The Road

this is just the old grouchy woman across the road ringing us to complain about the noise of ZBC. i think i'll use it as a bridge in a song, or write LOUD song about her. this woman, gladys, she wants to kill my dog.

A Heart With No Luck

this is kinda boppy, but still kinda sad. i'll record a better version with vocals tomorrow. (procrastinator-hope)
"We were halfway through high school when the music took hold!" Two guys, two girls, all atheists formed Zan Batman Circus in 2004 in Religious Education class at Dunedin high school Kavanagh College. Their influences include the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Sonic Youth, Tool, Fiona Apple, Fur Patrol, Nine Inch Nails and the Smashing Pumpkins. The music is best described as an eternal struggle, sometimes lost to a drowning in lead guitar solo and jangly arpeggios, most of the time won over by a loud grungy riff. Like giving birth to a hammer, or making love to a naked flame, Zan Batman Circus' rawness is oddly pleasing.
Band/artist history
we formed late last year. read the bio.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
we play at school, and we entered in this year's rockquest. we like playing in front of sweaty people.
Your musical influences
sonic youth, fiona apple, nine inch nails, the yeah yeah yeahs, the pixies, the smashing pumpkins, tool, fur patrol, deftones, tori amos.
What equipment do you use?
tim has a 80 effects foot pedal with delay, and a wah and a pitch bender, we like to utilise that. tim plays a epiphone les paul (lead), hope plays a squier telecaster (rhythm), zoe plays an ashton lefty bass and kevin just plays the hitting things.
Anything else?
