Wonderful Johnson is the newest project from noted rock bassist Tim McGeary. The band's music is full of harmony with solid hooks and an edgy feel. McGeary is a singer/songwriter from Naples, Florida, who has been writing songs for as long as he can remember. When he was 5 years old, at his piano lesson, he would play the lesson first, then play something he wrote himself. Today McGeary is writing some of his best work. “I had to get back to my soul, to things that are important to me, my family, and my friends,” he said. Tim works as a flight medic and fire fighter, and, as he puts it, “I see people at their worst and at their best when things are at their worst. There are a lot of stories out here and some need to be told.” He went to the World Trade Center and worked at ground zero for two weeks just after 9/11. It was a life changing experience working with the other fire fighters and paramedics and hearing their stories of what happened that day and the friends and family they lost. Wonderful Johnson's songs have been featured in the television shows Smallville, One Tree Hill, Glory Days, and Prey as well as in the HBO broadcast movie Girl Got Moe. “I write every day because I have to,” Tim said, “It is a place for me to vent my emotions and feelings when I see the things at my job and in the world.” You can feel the emotion when you listen to the tracks on the New CD, “Twelve.” Tim's background includes the 1984 A&M records recording group The Rescue. The Rescue recorded their album in London at Sarm East Studios, with Tony Mansfield (Captain Sensible, Naked Eyes) producing. McGeary was one of two lead singers and the bass player. The record went to Billboard's “recommended list” and the band toured extensively for two years with Billy Idol, Simple Minds, Stray Cats, Thompson Twins, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Patty Smythe and Scandal, Missing Persons, and Duran Duran. They called themselves “the greatest opening band that ever lived.”
