Welcome all. We are Wide Right Turns. A Northern Pennsylvania "diversity band." We're independent at the moment, but looking to negotiate. We've been together a long time, and do primarily only original material. Please contact us if you're interested.
A lot of people have asked us, "What's this diversity thing all about? And what's your sound?" Well, to be honest, we don't have a sound at all. We have a little bit of everything. We're hard hitting with the most original thing we could think of, exploring every style of music out there.
We're also known for our live show. We've jammed with everyone from hardcore metal bands, to punk bands, country lineups, jazz musicians and everyone else in between. We're just looking to get our music to everyone we can.
Peace, and love you all.Band/artist history
Well I (John) can give you the short version of our band's history.
In January of 2000, three friends came together. Their names are John, Tony, and Chode. John playing guitar and singing, Chode playing lead guitar, and Tony playing bass and doing harmony vocal. There was only one thing missing. A drummer.
Enter Phil Riegel. The drummer that was.
We played with Phil from January to June. Then, over the summer, Phil left the band on a mutual decision.
In August, we added guitarist Kyle Brown, and picked up the world's rgeatest drummer, Matt Lantz.
We played as a five piece for a while, but something just wasn't working. Kyle left the band in late September for personal reasons.
We went through a brief stint with a keyboardist in December, but that idea died after one practice.
Currently we are a four piece, and will be staying like this barring a divine act.Have you performed in front of an audience?Hell yes we play live. We've played a ton of different places, but I think our favorite place to play is Hurricane Billiards. We get professional sound, and the crowd there is EXCELLENT.
We've had a lot of good times there. But to just pick one specific moment would probably have to be the opening of our first show. See we hadn't played locally in about 8 months, and when we first started we were not so good, and that's all anyone locally had heard. We struck the first chord at that show, and the entire audience lit up. It was truly an amazing feeling.
Your musical influences
Smashing Pumpkins, Metallica, Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, Better than Ezra, Reel Big Fish, Green Day, Beatles, Beastie Boys, Aerosmith, and Neil Young.
We're a "rock" band that also plays everything else.
If you like Rock, Jazz, Punk, Funk, Metal, Classic Rock, Rap, Blues, or anytihng in between, check us out. But sorry, NO disco. What equipment do you use?
Well, our lead guitarist uses a Line 6 Spider 210 amp, and a Jay Turser strat. Our singer uses a Gibson Epiphone LP-100 guitar, and a Roland amp. Our bass player uses a BC Rich Warlock bass, and a vintage unknown make amp. Finally our drummer uses a Pearl Select 2000 Export series, and Zildjian ZBT cymbals.Anything else?
I don't really know what's left to say, other thank check us out. We offer every kind of music, so we've got SOMETHING for EVERYONE.
So please,
Eat drink and be merry.
Peace and love,
John, Tony, Chode, and Matt
