WELCOME.. To the WHIRLWIND BLUES REVUE page.
We are a Blues Band from Long Island N.Y. We write
our own songs and play some blues standards. We
have a diverse style, Playing down & dirty Boogie
to Uptown swing and everthing in between.Band/artist history
The Band was formed in 1996 ,When Childhood Buddies Southside Tony & Whirlwind Chucky reunited to form a Kick'in Blues band. Tony got his buddy Tommy Gunn (Guitar Legend ) & Chucky brought in his Brother-in-Law Kidd Kenny to fill the Guitar spots. After a few Lineup changes,Most notability Joe Mellow ( A well seasoned Veteran Drummer on the L.I. Circuit still in his 20's!) (Keyboardist/Extraordinaire) Johnny Buckets & (Master Bluesman) Big Jim Kohler to replace the departing Tommy Gunn. The band headed into the studio in early 1998 to record a full Album of original material.
The project started well. The band banged out close to 8 tunes(Some live 1st takes!)and started laying tracks for other tunes. We were better than half way done when the studio went out of business?? No phone call, No warning. They just disappeared with all our Masters! The Fuzzy Dice album would never be. The songs posted here are from a cassette tape of rough mixes (which is all we were left with) Or from live recording. So the sound quality is not optimal. The Band has been plagued with Health problems and has been unable to do any recording. But we have been writing New material and are looking forward to finding or way back to a reputable recording studio and finish the project.Have you performed in front of an audience? The band Is now on a hiatus.
