We're a stoner and doom band in Portland Oregon. We write heavy riffs. We have songs about robots and wizards. We like fuzzy tones.
Why this name?
After many a beer on a Sunday before practice it seemed like a good idea. It's the symbol of the toil of life from Conan the Barbarian. And it's a montage.
Do you play live?
We play live. We're in Portland, Oregon. We like "it"...wait what's "it" again? Special moments: playing live to the musicians who inspire us to bring the heavy.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Uuuuuhhhh...how about the channels of distribution are now easily accessible to all, and that combined with easy access to multitrack recording means a power shift from the traditional record company model of 20 years ago to a more dispersed power structure (with a lot more noise than signal...) today.
Or, said another way, "Beer."
Or, said another way, "Beer."
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depends on what it says. But you should search youtube for Dick Dale's video about that before you sign. Oh, and hire a well known entertainment lawyer.
Band History:
Two of us were in a more punk-metal band a la Motorhead in 2004-2005. We had always wanted to do a more stoner and doom oriented heavy project. Our friend also played and we added him to the lineup. The last piece fell into place courtesy Craig and his list. He was the first guy we tried, he was a good fit stylistically and turned out to be really easy to work with. We put a 7 song set together and started to play out. Now we have almost an hour of original music.
