I Put My Chapstick On
VMC a.k.a The Artist Formerly Known as Veridikal, is a Queens based musician who specializes in hip-hop but also ventures into the alternative and acoustic areas of rock and pop. Born Cody Calderon, VMC began his career writing poetry and free verse at the age of 8. This later evolved into school-yard and lunch-time rapping with his close friend and frequent collaborator, Philly Bluntz (Philip D.) At the age of 13, VMC began recording along side Bluntz in a bedroom studio and the rest is history.
Band/artist history
You already know.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Other than freestyling drunk at college parties and in front of friends and strangers at local bonfires, no. I love the feeling. Most memorable moment was in a basement party my first year at college. This dude stepped up in the middle of the room and started spitting. He challenged anyone.. so naturally, I rose to the occasion. He looked me up and down almost as if to say, "fuck is this white boy doing... this is gonna be easy." To make a long story short, i ripped him apart, had the whole school chanting my name, and i left him with the most confused look on his face. Best part of the story is, my boys were pulling me away just as i finished telling me that the cops were there.. so we slipped out the back door before they could catch us. It was the most incredible high i've ever felt. Damn it feels good to be a gangster.
