Music adds quality to life and this is the ultimate goal for UK-Siren.......

It has become obvious over recent weeks that I am not going to make my fortune by selling my songs on Soundclick. Whilst it would have been nice to earn some cash for my work it is not essential at this point of time. Music is for enjoying and for sharing - not for hiding in some dark place and guarding terrified of critisism, plagarism and such things. Therefore I am once again offering these songs as FREE DOWNLOADS!!!!

However, it would be nice to know that anybody who does download any of these tracks will share them with others. If anybody knows of someone who may be looking for material to cover then play them some of these songs. Likewise if anyone out there has contacts within the music industry point them to this site. At the end of the day we writers do need some rewards for our work even if it doesn't arrive via Soundclick.

That's about it for now then. I hope to be including more songs throughout the year and I hope you enjoy your stay! Toodlepip - Jon

Why this name?
I originally chose Siren. However, this name was already taken so uk-siren was born. I just thought the name suited as a psuedo front for the work featuring Liz Wilson's vocals.
Do you play live?
No, uk-siren will only ever be a studio band
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It certainly provides an extra dimension in which bands and writers can showcase their material. The trouble is it has grown so vast that the choice is overwhelming. However, anything that gets a writer's work out there to a wider audience has only got to be a good thing. Music needs to be shared rather than kept in some dark place gathering dust. It is also useful to have ones peers able to critique your work and drive you on to better things.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
The moguls of the music industry would probably do better by not pressurising their artists/writers to deliver to order. Few are talented enough to be able to deliver their best under these pressures. Better to glean a handful of true classics over a writers lifetime than a proliferation of their second-rate stuff, I say. I personally would certainly be interested in signing a publishing contract with a major if one was offered and there were non of the aforementioned over-expectations. However, I am long enough in the tooth to appreciate it aint gonna happen so I will continue to write for my own and the pleasure of others at my own leisurely pace.
Your influences?
Many and varied.
