Tom Bolton writes sparkling mystical folk-acoustic songs with crunch, drawing on an eclectic brew of folk, pop, roots and rock inspirations, and a swirling sea of influences... distilled into timeless melodies woven through with fine-crafted lyrics.
Do you play live?
I've been playing gigs for the last six or seven years, mostly solo. Two years ago I was joined by Richard Grace on double-bass and harmonies. We play folk clubs, acoustic venues, house concerts, festivals, bars... but mostly we're aiming for a listening audience, places where people are there for the music.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
everything is being shaken upside down... anyone can put their music up and make a noise... everyone wants it all for nothing, right now... just like little children... and people who know that live music is way way way beyond listening to mp3s... they have access to a treasure that the internet simply cannot even start to approximate!
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I'm not sure why I would want to. I have complete control over everything I do. I make and play the music that is in my heart. I choose which gigs I wanna play. I record my albums the way I want to record them... after finding the money the hard way... and I own the whole thing!
Band History:
I've been writing songs since I was sixteen. The journey into music has been strange, long, turbulent, confusing, exhilarating... it's still going... I love making music!
