At 18 years old, Jay Nice is already blowing up the streets of Chicago! His current album, entitled "Chapter One", has already created massive hype from hip-hop lovers all over the Midwest. He is a Phenomenal artist who is, without a question, one of the best in his time. The skills that are being brought every time he steps on stage are Astonishing! This man really pours his heart and soul into music while also putting special emphasis in his songs, which make him one of the more elite and creative M.C.‘S in the Hip-Hop category. Perfect examples such as “Captain Cool,” “Chapter One,” and "This is Hip-Hop,” will perfectly show the world how much talent and technique he carries along with him that make him a complete artist. Since he was only 8 years old, Jonathan Quinones (Jay Nice), began his quest for stardom. While surviving through the harsh realities of poverty, he kept his head up while shedding pain through music. Ten years later, he finds himself amongst the best underground artists there is. He is not just an M.C., but also an amazing songwriter and lyricist! He has been around long enough and has seen many artist come and go. While slowly becoming the renaissance of hip-hop at such a young age, he has received lots of experience in the music business by managing himself as an artist.
He truly feels that his entire career is not just a story, but it’s a great novel.

Chapter One.
Why this name?
The "Jay" comes from my first name: Jonathan. People call me "Jay" for short.
The "Nice" comes from doing shows and touring. To be honest, I really didn't have a stage name for a while because I believed that stage names should have be given, not thought of. After a while, people kept telling me that I had a "Nice Flow" . Fans later kept calling me "Jay Nice" and I decided to stick with it because it was a name that was given to me.
Do you play live?
Yes. I use to play at this place called, "CLub Silo". I also perform at other Variety Shows that consist of over 800 people in attendance. I also perform at parties and pretty much anywhere I have the opportunity to. I love performing! Every time I do perform, it's special to me because I'm presenting myself to a very large crowd and I want to give them the absolute most I have to offer. I'm working on performing at the Milwaukee Rave and other hot spots down in Tampa, Florida. Holla at me if you'd like me to perform for you. I'm always looking for new spots to do shows!!!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
The internet changes the music industry in a positive way!!! It gives other up and coming artist an opportunity to showcase their talent and be heard by the entire world. It also gives them a way to distribute their work without having to hire mangers or distributors to do the work for you. Nowadays, you can pretty much do everything by yourself without having to sell your soul to world class record labels.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes! I'm currently looking for major labels to sign with. However, I would only do so if the money was right and I'd be allowed to be myself as an artist. Nowadays, their are lots of artist who sell themselves out for money. To be a more successful artist, it has to be more about the music rather than money.
Band History:
I've been an emcee for ten years now. Since I was about seven or eight years old, I've been writing music. I think to become a very successful artist, you need to have lots of experience with music. A lot of one hit wonders were only involved with music for a short period of their life. For instance, anywhere from one to five years of writing, recording, mixing, producing, ect. I believe that a TRUE ARTIST, has been doing it for over their whole entire life. Anyways, aside from that, I have been an M.C. for over ten years now, and I have done shows for the last 3 years now.
Your influences?
I would say that my life completely influences my music. Everyday life is what makes me sit down and record the songs and messages, I feel, the world should hear. However, if I had to pick some artist that influence my music, I would have to say artist like Lupe Fiasco, Common, Kanye West, Nas, Jay-Z, and some more commercial people like Nelly and Smilez/Southstar.
Favorite spot?
CHICAGO!!!! They call us the 2nd city a lot... But There is no way that there could be a better city than Chicago!
Equipment used:
I use the basic note pad and pen, I also use the MXL PS-69 microphone to go along with my M-BOX. Aside from that, I use Adobe 2.0 and Pro-Tools to record.
