Vision: The Psalmist's vision is to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the streets. He hopes to impact the church through igniting the youth and change the world by impacting the lost. This is accomplished through the dual tasks of rapping and preaching. The music just prepares the heart to be ministered to, but the Word changes lives.
Why this name?
The Hebrew king, David, was the first Psalmist. Just like King David I have been gifted in music....and I share his name, his struggles, and his relationship with God.
Do you play live?
Play live all the time....all over the place, but do Philly a lot. Love the scene.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
MP3s are great, but they are a two eged sword. Good part, cats can get your music quick (and you can sometimes get paid). Bad part, you only sometimes get paid, and you have a lot of no talent cats trying to do the same thing as you....so people get tired of surfing through the bad music a lot of times before they get to you.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes....if I maintained artistic control, and the percentages were right.
Band History:
A native of Corona (Queens County), New York, "The Psalmist" was born into a musical family. His father a trumpet player, his aunt an oboe player, his uncle a producer for Babyface, his grandfather a Salsero. As a child he performed in school plays and began bass lessons at age eight. At the time that he graduated high school, he was the 5th best high school basist in New York state and the 13th on the East Coast. The Psalmist attended both SUNY College at Fredonia and Messiah College pursuing a degree in music business and graduated in May 2003. Since then, The Psalmist has made Philadelphia, PA his home and has been performing in local clubs, churches, schools and festivals including The 5 Spot, Unity in the Community Day, Eastern University, Temple University, West Philadelphia High School, The Apollo Gospel Night, Midwest Holy Hip Hop Conference, National Holy Hip Hop Conference, Mic Rippaz Conference, Messiah College and Club Flow.

The Psalmist's long-awaited Sophomore album “The Fifth Element”, recorded in basement studios, is the definition of concious Gospel Hip Hop. From the anthem feel of "Free" to the philosophical thought presented in "1 Little Dream" to the heart fealt I'm sorry's in "My Apologies" this disk contains 19 tracks that will eave you questioning, "Why haven't I heard of him before?"

It is The Psalmist's versitility that makes him an asset to his independent record label, Fear of the Drum Records. His production will soon be gracing CD's made by some of Holy Hip Hop's legends including, Cruz Cordero of the Crossmovement, 1-way, Activist of the Street Sweepers, Dialect, Judah Priest, LTS and Real Lyfe of 39 Lashez and more.

"The Fifth Element" has been released and is selling multiple copies quickly on the street.
