Sucka are a fast paced three-piece rock band with a punk edge from camberley surrey, consisting of brothers Craig and Ashley and newcomer Ben. 2004 saw the boys tour the country and release a new cd. 2005 is set to be another year of touring and promoting the new cd so check them out at a town near you!
Why this name?
funny story we decided to call ourselves sucka till we could think of something better, we never thought of anything better and people know us by that now.
Do you play live?
we have been gigging since 2002, played all over the country an have just had our first experience of touring in 2004 three guys in one car on the road- nice! best gig was supporting the uk subs!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
yeah it makes small bands more exposed to a bigger audeince, i guess its not as good for bigger bands cos its their living, but if you play nice an have sample songs as mp3 everones happy.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
why not we do this cos we love it and that will help us continue doin what we love.
Band History:
Sucka are a fast paced three-piece rock/punk band who exploded from the local scene of Aldershot (Hundred Reasons, Vex Red, Reuben) in 2001. The band consists of brothers Craig (21) and Ashley (18) on Guitar and Drums and newcomer Ben (19) on Bass.
The band formed in Late 2001 with Craig on Guitar and vocals, Ashley on Drums and Craig’s college friend James on Bass. Sadly James left in early 2004 but was replaced by a close friend of the bands Ben. Suckas’ main aim when formed was to play as much as possible to anyone who would listen and as a result have played all over the country supporting bands such as ‘UK Subs’, [spunge] ‘Caffeine’, ‘Mr. Zippy’, ‘Adequate seven’, ‘uncle brian’ ‘phinius gage’ and ‘the Misnomers’. 2004 saw the band hit the road on two self financed national tours playing dates right across the country from southampton to cumbria promoting their self released single ‘tell me its ok’, which entered the top 10 on soundclick.com’s alternative chart. They have also appeared on various compilation cd’s including the recent fanrborough groove 10.
The bands musical influence ranges from ‘Pennywise’ to the ‘Sex Pistols’ and ‘Ramones’ a heavy sound with stripped down raw guitar and melodic singing, their energetic live performances and cd releases have given the band encouraging reviews from local papers, fanzines and Websites and local radio stations.
