As you should all know by now-my name is Richie Steed, the saviour of GOOD synthpop.I'm trying to bring back good, original and melodic songwriting all done on synths. My dream is too create a revolution in the music industry where I could inspire a whole new wave of bands using synths to emerge and who can write songs as good as the likes of Burt Bacharach,Lennon/McCartney,Vince Clarke and Martin Gore etc.
CALLING YOUNG SINGERS!!!!!!!CALLING YOUNG SINGERS!!!!!!!!!!
I'm desperately looking for a young and talented singer with a distinctive voice who can sing the melodies to my original and commercial songs.I have an A level in music and have learnt every commercial songwriting trick there is!
I write unique material with each song having it's own theme musically and lyrically(very much like Martin Gore from Depeche Mode's work).
I was mainly a massive Led Zep fan though originally(You know, the old guitar thing and that).Shortly after I was mad about guitars I got into organ music and became a massive fan of Procol Harum,Ray Manzarek(The Doors) and Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones. This was shortly before I got into synthesizers when I took out the Alison Moyet essential cd back in June 2002 and got into the Yazoo stuff.
Why this name?
Because it decribes what we are.
Do you play live?
Not yet.I want to get a synth band set up.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It helps us to meet and interact with other musicians and singers.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
YES,definitely!
Band History:
I did some gigs at school and college.People used to say I blew there minds away with some of my material. They couldn't get enough!
Your influences?
I was first trained by piano course books and lessons,so I suppose at the end of the day I was influenced and trained classically.I hate most classical music though as most of it has no rhythm.I want to create music that is composed in the same advanced way that classical music was written but with unique, original rhythms and innovative synthesizer sounds effects that I create using my experience I've gained from synthesizers, synth books, experimentation, synth manuals etc.
Favorite spot?
It used to be Birmingham but ever since I've got into synths I've become completely infatuated with the city of Sheffield because it is the birthplace of electronic pop.
Equipment used:
A Roland Fantom with three expansion boards,a Roland Fantom-X,a Roland V-synth,a technics organ,a compaq 2.8Ghz pentium 4 PC,E-Mu soundcard,an EDIROL 10 in/10 out audio interface,a Roland 200watt subwoofer with a Roland 180watt amp.
Anything else...?
I want us to be the biggest synth act EVER!And the most successful which I really believe I could do because I have a very strong determination to succeed in anything I want to do.I never stop-even when I DROP!
