Spagirus is an experimental/drone project that operates with the intent of producing a listening environment conducive to expanding awareness of pure sound. A binary coniunctio makes the fusion of audial implementation with transcendant states possible. Audial cut ups for high tech shamans.
Why this name?
Spagirus is an alchemical term meaning one who can see through the lllusion of duality but still know right from wrong (paraphrase from Paracelsus). Breaking through such illusions of seperateness is what Spagirus's musick is all about.
Do you play live?
Yes, so far mostly in the midwest and southeast of the U.S.
Your influences?
The forest just outside the city, subterranean spaces, cloistered areas, and the voices of our circuit powered brothers and sisters, oh how they hum. William S. Burroughs, James Joyce, and Shakyamuni. John Cage, Morton Feldman, Pauline Oliveros, Ellen Fullman, Coil, Dead Voices On Air, Richard Chartier, Stars of The Lid, Nurse With Wound, Bernhard Guenter, Zoviet France, Kevin Drumm, Troum, Mirror, Birchville Cat Motel, Thuja, Lovely Midget, Toshimaru Nakamura, Keith Fullerton Whitman, Sogar, Phil Niblock.
Favorite spot?
Anywhere that I lay down my Zafu.
