Meet Heaven's firey redhead, Sonia Vannest, full of spunk and ready to rock. One might describe her as "a Jesus chick with attitude". As one of the most well known independent artist in Christian music, Sonia's music has charted internationally and is an award winning songwriter by The Gospel Music Association where she received honors for CCM Song of 2002. With a voice as original and full of passion as her songwriting, this songstress is winning hearts all over the world with her one of a kind flavor in a musical world of wanna-be's. Look out for the new release in early 2005!
Why this name?
My mother chose my name and I never had the heart to change it to Moonbeam or Drizzle Pop or anything, and my last name was from the dude I married and everybody mutilates it so I just go by Sonia V. now - at least half of it will be pronounced right. By the way, It's not "sone - ya"
Do you play live?
I prefer to play dead.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Dramatically! The internet allows independent artists to chart with the rest of them and we're finding that the general public is able to choose their music, not be spoon-fed with the industry diet.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, but I would give them hec first.

Favorite spot?
Every City - I'm a true City girl who's lived in Detroit, Chicago, New York and Orlando (love NY the best)- I've yet to conquer the West Coast! But my favorite place to be is anywhere on the Gulf Coast beaches of my homestate of Florida.
