To answer that question, perhaps you should know what "Sekai no Melody" means. It's Japanese for "The World's Melody", which is precisely what it is.

Sekai no Melody is the original multilingual singing organization featuring people of all languages, ranges, abilities, skills, and interest. We not only sing Japanese songs, but English adaptations, and sometimes even other foreign songs! Simply speaking, Sekai no Melody is an interesting take on the regular same-old, same-old internet Jpop groups - we cover many genres and styles, so there is always something for everyone!

We promote awareness of cultural variety through music and songs, instill and reinforce teamwork and responsibility, and generally have a wonderful time singing both for our enjoyment and the delight of others.

Why this name?

Sekai no Melody means "The World's Melody". We sing songs from various languages and styles.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?

Definitely makes it bigger - a singer could be released in Japan, and in an hour scans, mp3s, and information are available online!

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Probably not now, but if we reach major success it's a possibility.

Band History:

Sekai no Melody isn't a new idea - it's been floating around in the vast area of cyberspace since December 2004. It was originally a Mermaid Melody multilingual song project hosted on the famous Mother Symphony forums. However, when the forum died and Sekai no Melody relocated to Geocities (the site is still up at Geocities, by the way), many of the members lost touch and Miri wasn't able to organize things very well. The project fell into "indefinite hiatus" and forgotten.

After about two years and a half, Miri received an inquiry from a curious girl named Arashi who wanted to join the project. With this new inspiration, Miri decided to bring Sekai no Melody back to live the glory it never got to taste. With a new outlook (variety of genres and songs instead of just Mermaid Melody), Sekai no Melody is sure to meet success! Let's do our best!
