Rules of Engagement is a melodic metal-band from Kristiansand, Norway who started up february 2006. Since then our line-up has been changed slightly, and the band has recorded it's first promo that has just been released. RoE at this time is Kim-Arly Karlsen and Erik Evensen on guitar, Jarl Ivar Brynhildsvoll on bass and Thomas Farovig on drums. Bernt Fjellestad, the vocal on the promo decided to leave RoE after the recording and after some intense searc we found a new lead vocal. His name is Bob Mork, pictures and info on him will come:)
Why this name?
Some of the members have been in the military, thats how the name came up. Allso there are rules for everything you do in life, what you engage in and that is something that the name represent. Not so much the military aspect of it.
Do you play live?
We have played live not to long ago and we will surely play a lot more live in the time to come around Norway and most likely in other contries if the opportunity comes. The most special moment for us was when the drum kit slipped on the floor so our drummer had to pull it back all the time and made the whole gig embarrasing. It was allso our first gig..;)
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives the independant bands and artists a great opportunity to show their music to the world with their low budget. Allso we think that there are great ways to sell music in this way, this is the future the record company should promote and sell much more of their music. Like pay-per-download of mp3 and stuff.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Ofcouse! For us it does'nt have to be big, as long as they know what they're doing so we can get the best sound possible. The music is most important.

Favorite spot?
Well we love Norway and our own town, Kristiansand but our music has a much wider audience in east-europe and Germany. We will travel around Europe when the opportunity comes.
Equipment used:
We use 6-string Washburn and Jackson-guitars at the time with Elixir 0,12 strings tuned to D to give it a heavier sound. We use a Yamaha 5-string bass and Mapex drum kit with Zidjan cymbrals.
Guitars uses Boss-soundboards, bass a Behringer effectboard and we use mostly Shure michrophones.
Most of our instruments goes through the bands PA-system from Studiomaster but when we have more money we hope to buy our own racks.

Anything else...?
We hope the audience like what we do, and spread our name if its something of their taste! Then we will maybe one day play our music in their home town:)
