To tell ya the truth, I am basically a background singer or maybe second Soprano.(Heck, I really don't know for sure) I never had any training in vocals or even took Choir in school. Why? Because I wanted to be just a musician..and that's all there was to it ! However: I knew the moment that I turned twelve. I never had high vocals, I didn't go around screaming or singing like some kids do, and basically I was a very quite child and shy, and still am to a point. . I have two female cousins...

The moment I heard him play the Clarinet, I got chills running up and down my spine, and I had to learn how to play this awesome instrument, with 27 Silver keys. An instrument that had the abilities to play the blues, jazz, soul and swing.. I continued to listen to Benny Goodman, throughout my music travels, and even now in the present, I own some of Benny Goodman's finest collection. Being a professional clarinet player, came in handy for me. In my hometown there was a Baptist Church that had tent revivals and many times they could not take the piano or the piano player at many locations. I was asked if I could play my clarinet so they could sing, because they knew it was small enough to carry and I knew how to read music notes. I was delighted to play and eventually I became a regular at all these revivals. It was great and I will alway cherish those happy times. Regardless...

Thanks for your comment on 'Waiting - special cut' Janie. I THINK, apart from the fact it wasn't mixed, John's lead guitar hadn't been added and the bass is very low, the drums high, giving it a fairly live, acoustic feel. But I quite liked the harmony line, don't know whether John (my engineer then) didn't or he somehow excluded it by mistake. Some things you don't ask - remember this was my first ever studio vocal! x

Well, it's a bit early for that, but hey, there's no time like the present, eh? lol. As Harry wrote to me this week, we are not getting any younger. (We both want to work together again but, although a lot closer than you and I, we are still hours apart). Let me know what you hear, if you like anything and if you don't like anything. Oh yeah! I Am Who I Am is fantastic - it rocks!! Great drums, guitar and vocals. Brilliant lyrics on People...and I LOVE that dark minor key melody line and the progression. It has a real pro, powerful, driving sound - awesome!! Great job on Go On Ahead too...you are so versatile in your range of styles!! Hi Janie, Thanks for your reassuring message from Friday night. I know you are on the coast, I just got a shock when I switched on the tv when I got up, we've had a lot of coverage here of the 2 terrible incidents in the States last week. I also wanted to mention your KS1 videos which I still get to know about as a subscriber! So I watched them last Sunday night. I enjoyed 5 of them - in fact it was great hearing them again - but Bread and Wine, that was scary! Quite funny, but, wow, scareee! Nice combination of fairly serious subject matter, which you cover in the other 5 and humour, which we all need a dose of from time to time. I have an eye test tomorrow, which always means new specs. Hope I can get some cheap ones as a new pensioner! It was Bob on Friday, he's hanging on in and I would have rung him about lunch today but we had a couple of visitors - my friend who gave us his recent gig tickets. I did manage to get a little signed poster for him though! Catch ya soon, x
