We have a network with local jams just about every week around here. The music is awesome, but it's the great people I meet that reward me the most. Guitar... mandolin... harmonica... and lots of singing. Keep on strumming!

Lots of folks wonder why we named our family bluegrass band Motel 5 1/2. Well... it's the kids' fault. We were on our way to our first open mike up in the big town of Sedro Woolley, WA, and I told Forrest and Aida to come up with a name for our band, so we could sign in. On the freeway, we drove by a Motel 6, and it sounded cool. Problem is... that name is already taken, and we don't really stack up to fancy motels like that. We're more the type to sleep in a tent or under the stars. So we...

Our family band recently performed on open mic at the Darrington Bluegrass Festival in the North Cascades. We had a great week of camping and pickin' with some of the greatest people on Earth. We were fortunate to have one of the best fiddlers, Steve Saba, from British Columbia, help us out. What a great new friend we found! Mike Edwards, our cousin is the best washtub bass player in this territory. Not only does he excel with great rhythm and tone, he can get your laundry done for you in...

I hope you can get it out of her before its to late. Possum, please don't ruin good grits with possum gravy. I never could get past the look in their eyes and those nasty teeth, but this is what you do to prepare O'possum. You put the possum in a cage for about two weeks and feed him corn bread and buttermilk. This gets all the other stuff they eat like dead midnight boy and chicken poop out of their system. Then you have to roll the possum in hot asshes to singe the hair off and scrape the hide. You don't skin possum. Then you bake him with sweet potatoes. The first thing I cought in one was a skunk so you are lucky, but I would rather eat skunk. In the 30's possum keep a lot of people from starving. Wooly
Hi Kevin...Just droppin' by to say hello...nothing new musically here but hopefully soon. Just can't get into recording when the ground is still bare and it's nice outside and there is still opportunity for more homestead work. Hope all is well with you and you are getting ready to treat us all to more of your fine tunes! Take care buddy.
Hey Kev, hope things are well with you. had a bit of a reunion with the rock band I was in 25 years ago (Que Decree). A week of recording and general mayhem - it happens every 5 or 6 years. If you get a chance, stop by and check out 'Unstable' and 'Not to be played'. Bit of a slide show of the week's recording too. Cheers. - John
