Why this name?
The name Riddler J came about when I was about 13 or 14. By that age, I idolised Jim Carey & saw a lot of me in him - so when he played 'The Riddler' in "Batman Forever"; I decided to adopt it. The character is mystifying. Interesting but outside of society. Riddler was also chosen because of its shorter term, Riddle. As in to Riddle, to play on words & form. So it applied to the music I was writing.
The J part is just simply my first name, James. So, now you know! ;)

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I think mp3's have seperated the real musicians from the money marketers. Whilst I agree that it's annoying if you're losing money from file swapping activities; wouldn't you also be gaining publicity? Sometimes you've got to refocus on why you make music; & when you find the right reason, you let it all go.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes. Definitely. Though, I think I'll be a bit naive to knowing the in's & out's of it all - it would do me the world of good by making me motivated & giving me realistic goals instead of just laying on my arse thinking about how wrong things are going.
One thing I'd like though is space to record the material & not rush dates. The music should come to you, not the other way round.

Your influences?
BT, Akira Yamaoka, Craig Armstrong, Ludovico Einaudi, Chicane, Depeche Mode, Faithless, Damien Rice, Grace, Naimee Coleman, Coldplay, Radiohead, System F, Tears For Fears, Zero 7 plus more.
Favorite spot?
I'm sure I haven't found it yet; but from what I have seen so far - the sun setting at San Antonio by the Cafe del Mar & Savannah Bar was amazing. Of course, there are others - like Cockington which is a village full of wild, untouched life about 2 miles from where I live.
I used to spend a lot of time down Paignton Beach; mostly because I was unemployed & depressed for over 8 months. But if a place holds something of visual beauty, atmosphere, or animals them I'm there.

Equipment used:
Well, not a lot as you can probably tell. It's all made on PC at the moment using Fruityloops 3.4, Acid Pro 3.0 & Sound Forge 5.0. Any microphone work done by me is recorded quite embarrassingly using a £12 Labtec Headset....
