What's up! My name is Patrick and welcome to my musical world. I have had a passion for music ever since birth and look forward to sharing the songs I have created with you. I like to be involved with all aspects of music production including songwriting, composing, arranging, performing, and engineering. I have an interest in producing a wide variety of musical styles and don't really see myself being limited to one genre of music. However my first album mainly has an R&B / Pop vibe. The two instruments I play are the keyboard and drums. My first debut album is called Get To Know Me (C) Patrick Hines 2008. All songs on the album were written, produced and engineered by me. I try to write about various topics in my songs instead of talking about love all the time. I strongly believe that music in combination with meaningful lyrics has the power to change the world in a positive way. Why this name?
My band name was formed from a combination of the first letter from my first name (Patrick) and the first 4 letters from my last name (HINES). It spells PHINE and is pronounced to mean FINE. Like the phrase "fine wine" I want my music to have a timeless quality to it.
Do you play live?
Being a brand new artist I am constantly looking for new opportunities to play live. At the moment I am looking for venues in the DC Metropolitan area to play in. I'll make sure to notify you and keep you up to date on any future shows.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I love how the internet gives new musicians like myself the opportunity to reach listeners around the world that we would otherwise not have access to. I also love how it allows us to become a self marketer and avoid the contracts of a major record company.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
I think I would still possibly sign with a major label. However this would only come after I had developed a strong following on my own without their assistance.
Your influences?
Prince is my biggest musical influence. Other musical influences include Timbaland and the Neptunes.
Equipment used:
I record all my material using Cakewalk Home Studio software. My keyboard equipment includes a Motif ES Rack and a whole lot of VST software synthesizers.

I truly appreciate any feedback that you may provide about my music. I also greatly appreciate any future fans I may gain from my music. Music is really a partnership after all between the artist who creates it and the listener. I hope you enjoy the music!
