I'm based in Scotland, and have been recording for about twenty years, producing in excess of twenty albums over the last ten years. I've made music for award winning short films and have had one commercial release (which soured my view of the traditional record industry - hence my presence here and elsewhere on the web).

I don't stick to one genre, having produced everything from neo-punk to neo-classical, and hope that somone out there likes my stuff.
Why this name?
As a solo artist I was looking for an identity that suited the creative situation I found myself in. The word "periurban" is that zone that lies between the urban sprawl of the city and the rural expanse of the countryside. It's the zone that the city has its eye on.
Do you play live?
I've played live many times in the past, and always enjoyed it. But it would take a very special offer for me to contemplate it now.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I hope the internet kills the traditional music industry and its stranglehold on copyright stone dead. I mean it. All the record industry does is make most music illegal to create copy or share, and it's not good for the musicians, the listeners or the creative life of culture as a whole.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Don't be silly.
Band History:
The same sad old story. Had a band, tried to work the system, got ripped off, decided to do it myself without ripping anyone off.
Your influences?
Frank Zappa. Kraut Rock. Progressive. Post rock. Left field. Experimentation. I hate genres, and refuse to stick to one, which explains why I have very few fans! Avante rock one minute, R&B the next. Who cares?
Favorite spot?
Edinburgh, Scotland.
Equipment used:
Currently a PC based small studio, although in the past I've tinkered with everything from 4 track cassette to the Synclavier.
Anything else...?
www.periurban.com for my whole solo back catalogue, ten albums plus new tracks and outakes. Enjoy.
