Out of Silence is a local band that is part of a performing arts project dedicated to raising awareness of mental health issues, and to promote the positive qualities of survivors of mental illnesses through the Art of Understanding.
We are always looking for new talent, both in the band and to perform live theatre on mental health issues. Currently the band consists of Jim Woten on guitar and Bill Boutin on keyboards

Why this name?
Mental illness is still greatly misunderstood because people don't hear about it enough. Once upon a time, stigma existed against cancer patients. Now you hear about cancer all the time on tv and there are much more resources to fight that illness than mental illness. So we have to come out of that silence and educate the community about the importance of supporting mental health care.
Do you play live?
We play at a local mental health clubhouse called club hope, and we are making our second public appearance here in Lima Oh in February as part of "29 days of caring."
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
I still have fond memories of those vacuum tubes...
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
It depends.
Band History:
We don't have much history yet so I guess we're making it.
Your influences?
Jim and I are a generation apart, so our influences vary from classic rock to todays Contemperary Christian groups.
Favorite spot?
I still like Lima though I'm missing my native New Hampshire.
Equipment used:
A nylon string guitar and a Yamaha keyboard.
