The band is Shane O'Brien and various friends and muscians and memories along the way.
Shane's original music can be pigeonholed as "Americana", but it is a fusion of alt-country, blues, folk, with a little rock thrown in for fun.
Why this name?
The O'Brien part was easy... The Edge is where most things in life happen...
Do you play live?
Lots of live gigs, from the south bay of Los Angeles to Manhattan New York.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gets the music out to the public much easier and gives a broader audience to all.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Of course!--While most songwriters fear exploitation of their craft,as I do, it still is the best way to get your music heard worldwide. The more people that are connected emotionally with any music, the better. One primary drawback to major labels is of course the retail price of CD's, which I would like to see drop dramatically.
Your influences?
Buddy Guy,Muddy Waters, Neil Young, John Lee Hooker, B.B. King, J.J. Cale, Eric Clapton.
***Tony Sena, Niki Shoes, Don Haney, Danny Timms, Jimmy Solo, 5 of LA's finest musicians and men***
Favorite spot?
The Jungle Studio.
Equipment used:
62 Strat, Mid 80's D28 Martin, 77 Takamine Nylon Classic, Various Amps recorded dry.
Anything else...?
Shane talks of the "Jungle" and it seems to be all of us that come around him and the music.
It's not uncommon for the music that comes from the Jungle to be really "Magic"
