Labeled the “Hypnotic Songstress” vocalist and lyricist, NuDawn’s provocative style lyrically lullabies your senses to create a melodious atmosphere for your escape into a pleasurable and thought provoking world. When NuDawn is at total peace, you will find her somewhere alone, in a dimly lit room or perhaps in the park with a set of earphones on - creating passionate lyrics on various topics that resonate deep within her heart. NuDawn’s life long love affair with music has finally cumulated into her first steps in accomplishing her dream to nationally serenade people from all walks of life.
Born and raised near Chicago, NuDawn’s passion for performing was encouraged by her mother at an early age. Her avid thirst for the arts took shape in ballet, gymnastics, tap, jazz dancing and singing in the Church Choir and Performing Arts Program. NuDawn traveled to participate in countless recitals and competitions also participating in the Our Little Miss pageants for the state of Illinois, placing consistently in the top three. Later, NuDawn became the lead singer of a teenage band that performed top R&B/Soul cover songs until the band dissolved. She holds a degree in Psychology/Social Work and is an ordained minister who mentors young ladies.
The “Hypnotic Songstress” has capitulated into the music scene with an amazing sound that blends the smooth R&B, Neo-Soul, Jazz and Gospel genres harmoniously into one unique flavor. Her influences: Sade, Billie Holiday, Gabriella Anders, Diana Ross, Barbara Streisand and Dionne Warwick would have to agree that NuDawn’s style is as individually smooth and intriguing as the woman herself.
From NuDawn’s music arises self-written lyrics with great resonance, passion and purpose. Her début project “A Nu Day Dawning” released in 2006 was created with grit and emotion. Watch NuDawn now as she evolves and focuses on her 2nd CD “Paradise Nu” scheduled to release in the Fall of 2008 from this artist with the soothing and tranquil aura!

The name NuDawn comes from the Native American culture and means to begin a new day fruitful as if it is the first day of your life and the last day of your life...
Do you play live?
I will begin performing with my band in the Jacksonville area in this fall so look at for us!
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It has encouraged the Indie Artists to manage their own musical directions by selling their own products world-wide whereas before we only were accessible to our own neighborhoods.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, as long as I am able to maintain the level of Executive Producer for projects my band and I create.
