NEWS

The Entropic // Ramblings tape has been released. Twenty three copies were made (the above link shows photos of the processed) and at this point in time all but one copy has been sold. If any radio or club DJs are after a copy, I am more than willing to make a CD copy of the album for their use, for free. Email enquiries to me. Thanks. Padraig.

Padraig created the idea of Nimheil as a means to give sonic shape to the ideas that he was creating in his fictional writing, and seeing in nightly dreams. The resulting sound that came from this expression of writing is best described as 'industrialized dark ambient littered with fragments of noise'.

Why this name?

Nimheil, (pronounced Nee-vayl) is a Gaelic word meaning "poisonous". It was felt this best described the aural quality of the music.

Do you play live?

Nimheil hasn't performed live yet, but hopes to do at least one or two live performances in 2005. These depend on material available and whether or not the right situation can be found.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?

There is a risk that the Internet will turn the music world upside down, and may result in either the growth of the popularity of the underground scene or wipe it out totally.

Part of the appeal of underground music is the difficulty in finding material by the artists. With the availability of broadband, this problem all but vanishes.

However, the Internet also gives greater chances to established artists, and upcoming artists to collaborate with other artists without living close to each other. It also adds a rather interesting set of distribution methods and potentially performance environments.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Ideally yes, if the contract was unrestrictive. I don't have a great desire to make a fortune from creating music, but I would like to be able to not to have to worry about the costs of production, pressing and distribution.

So in turn that means, any label that wishes to sign up Nimheil is more than welcome to contact me/us and discuss the possibilities and T&Cs.

Band History:

The idea started in mid-2003, and Nimheil wasn't named until December 2003. Most of 2004 was spent working on material and experimenting with techniques.

As of November 2004, a full length album is ready for final production with all the tracks finalized.

Your influences?

Einsturzende Neubauten, In Slaughter Natives, Sielwolf, Surgical Penis Klinik, Black Lung, Merzbow, Lustmord, Arcana, Caul, In the Nursery, Gruntsplatter, Raison d'Etre, Current 93, Death in June, NON and others. My influence started with a lot of old school industrial, noise and dark ambient. Recently a lot more dark ambient and apocalyptic-folk has crept into the listening list.

Favorite spot?

I live in Western Australia and over all I am very fond of it. It has a great range of environments to explore and experience. However, my favourite places are the desert and anywhere near to an old deep river.

Infact thinking about it, I would love to do a nightime performance out in the desert, the edges of the show bordered with flickering flares, their light smoke drifting over the audience, behind everyone the darkness of the nighttime desert.

Equipment used:

Laptop(s) full of softsynths, steel pipes, brass buckets, hammers, water drums, angel grinders, cheaparses synths and anything that makes noise.

Anything else...?
Legion of Nimheil

As of July 2005, I am creating a collective concept that I am
going to call 'Legion of Nimheil'. This is a mailing list for
fans of the musical project Nimheil.

How to join

Membership is easy. you join the mailing list.

The mailing list is found at:
Yahoo...

There is no monetary cost to signing up.

Bonus Points

Bonus points will be awarded if you can take a photo of yourself
somewhere dark and moody (a place where the music of Nimheil would
suit being played) with the Nimheil sigil, or with the flyer in
your hands. This bonus points will swell and surge if your picture
has occult or gaelic spiritual significance or includes flesh and blood.

Additional bonus bonus will be granted if you can convert more
people to listening to Nimheil (easily done by pointing them
at the website).

Requests for bonus points (i.e: sending photos or such like) can
be made via email.

What does joining Legion provide

Legion will have their names added to a roll-of-honour on the
Nimheil website (using any name you choose). Links to website
will be happily included. Those with the most bonus points
will be moved to the top of the list.

Any new projects will be announced on the mailing list.
So Legion get to learn about new stuff before anyone else.

And at such point that Nimheil sells new items such as
album releases, other merchandise or souls, Legion will
get free bonus items with any purchase, which may include
stickers, badges, hand signed artworks or anything else
Padraig / Nimheil comes up with.

Privacy

The mailing list will remain privately accessable to members only. The
email addresses on it will not be sold by Nimheil for any purpose. Although
that said, Yahoo! may or may not choose to do such things but that is
beyond the control of Nimheil.

The list may also be used to occasionally advertise certain events that
may be particularily interesting to those people that like Nimheil's
style of music, but that will not be common. And now and again
Nimheil's label 'Uncomfortable Records' may post about new projects
to the list.

This text is repeated on
the Nimheil website.
