Welcome to the Music of "New Yesterdays"!

John Daubert & Buddy Holcombe have written, composed, and recorded these songs with their many influences being respected and honored. (New Yesterdays) are songs that are new, yet with a feel of yesterday's music. All songs were recorded at Daubert's home on the Tascam Portastudio, an 8 track cassette deck. John Daubert performs all the music and vocals, except where credit to others are given on the song page.
Why this name?
New music with the classic influences of yesterday's songs.
Do you play live?
Recently, John Daubert had been playing at solo "JPF" Showcases throughout the Northeast US, and now plays in a band he started for some of the songs here, called "Too Little Time". He has played "The Spectrum" in Philadelphia, PA, USA with a 35 piece orchestra for a Rock n Roll song! Also, he backed up many known artists including Chuck Berry at Memories in Margate, NJ, on piano.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Allows for some indie artists to grow to a point that the music industry would have to take a look at those artists. Creates competition.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Depends how good our lawyer is! Baby boomers though. But there's always a first! It's all about business in that business. Funny how that works!
Band History:
John Daubert has played piano with Chuck Berry, the Philadelphia Orchestra at The Spectrum, and many other artists at top nightclubs in the New Jersey area. He was also a drummer in past bands, and plays guitar, bass, and keyboard strings and horns. Daubert plays and sings most of the songs. Buddy Holcombe was a drummer and horn player in Germany for his bands while stationed there. Holcombe writes many of the lyrics, and creates many of the string and horn parts. They co-write with both lending ideas to all aspects of the song. Daubert & Holcombe have also scored indie films.
Your influences?
The Beatles, Lennon/McCartney, Electric Light Orchestra, Toto, Elton John, Brian Wilson, Bernie Taupen for lyrics, Billy Joel, Everly Brothers, etc, etc! Even Older artists such as Scott Joplin, Irving Berlin, and Art Tatum have been influencial in Daubert's piano writing and playing.
Favorite spot?
Wingate, Durham County, England; Brigantine, NJ; Virginia Beach area; Bay Bridge Tunnel; Also, the Mountains in any state, especially New Hampshire and Maine. Home is also great! Anywhere with family
Equipment used:
For these recordings: Tascam Portastudio 488, a cassette deck. Yamaha and Alesis keyboards. Yamaha F-310 acoustic guitar. Various other guitars and bases form time to time if not on keyboard. One Shure SM57 mic for everything mic'd.
Anything else...?
We hope you enjoy our music half as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Peace,
John and Buddy
