Kuback coined the name "monkeyspank." It was a contest between that and "choking the chicken"... we obviously watched too much Beavis and Butthead (hehe).

Monkeyspank has a solid foundation based on friendship and a musical affinity fostered by the 8 years that the members have performed together as a band. Their sound is enhanced by their multi-faceted backgrounds; some of them belonging to and/ or receiving training from today's premiere bands such as Loquy, Tropical Depression, Bayang Barrios, Spy, and Pinikpikan; a background in Sound Engineering and most importantly, a true love and dedication for creating good music.

Monkeyspank is interested in cultivating and spreading music throughout the country by means of continuously giving both electric and acoustic performances as well as experimenting on the various instruments found in the Philippines and other countries. They also strive to project the right attitude on influencing the current music trends by spreading the message that "Young musicians must endeavor to create original music to enhance the Filipino music industry." With the growing concern and battle against piracy, it is also the band's objective to promote awareness of this cause. This they have done by releasing their own self-titled EP in 2001.

Monkeyspank also aims to create a new musical genre due to the various influences that have shaped their unique musical style, which is a fusion of hard rock, metal and funk elements.
