Mike Wilhoit
Hello, my friend! Welcome to this site. I pray God blesses you through these songs and draws you closer to Him. Worship Him with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. He is worthy of your best! Mike

PS: Here are a couple of quotes I'd like to share with you. (There are more in the Words of Wisdom file available in the 'links' section).

The question of the moment is: A God that serves Humanity, or a Humanity that serves God? Peter Taylor Forsyth

When men depart from the Bible they call humanity “God” in differing terms: the use of the term “God” means nothing to them, God is simply the name given to the general tendencies which further men’s interests. This spirit is honeycombing everything, we find it coming into the way we talk of Christian experience; there is creeping in the idea that God and Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost are simply meant to bless us, to further our interests. When we come to the New Testament we find exactly the opposite idea, that by regeneration we are brought into such harmony and union with God that we realize with great joy that we are meant to serve His interests. Oswald Chambers
Band History:
I am a Christian songwriter/singer. I think the music basically boils down to two major themes. The first being the absolute necessity of being saved by grace through faith in what Jesus did on the Cross. You must be born again. The second major theme is to abide in Him and bear much fruit. This must be done strictly out of a deep gratitude for what He has done for us. We don't work to stay saved, but good works are the natural fruit of a true saving relationship with Jesus Christ.
Your influences?
Musically, I would say Ray Boltz, Rich Mullins and Keith Green. As far as inspiration for writing the songs, I get most of it from daily Bible study. I also read a lot of sermons from some of the great preachers of the past. My favorite ones are G. Campbell Morgan, Charles Spurgeon, John Henry Jowett, George H. Morrison, Alexander Maclaren, John Bunyan, Oswald Chambers, J. C. Ryle, James S. Stewart, Joseph Parker, Watchman Nee, Martyn Lloyd-Jones and A. W. Tozer just to name a few. Of the preachers of our day, John MacArthur and K. P. Yohannan have by far had the greatest influence on helping me focus on the things that are truly important in our Lord's eyes. I try to walk with the wise and hopefully it shows in the songs.

Please see John MacArthur's tract on salvation called "Who Do You Think That I Am?" in the links section. I would highly recommend his preaching ministry to you. You can find out more about "Grace To You" at www.gty.org.

I would also like to recommend 'Gospel For Asia' to you. It is a Native Missionary Organization headed up by K. P. Yohannan. I read the free book "Revolution In World Missions" available at www.gfa.org and it changed dramatically how I view American Christianity, and my view of our responsibilities for the blessings the Lord has poured out on us.

Anything else...?
I've kept a collection of the best quotes I've found in my own personal Bible study, over the years. It's available in the links section. I call it "Words of Wisdom".

I'll leave you with these words from Paul in Philippians 1:9-11 “And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.”

We are here to ABIDE in God's presence and His Word. That will result in us bearing much fruit - which will result in His Father and our Father being glorified. That's it. That's the Christian life. Come in through the narrow gate and ABIDE.

I like to refer to this song as "The Gospel in 4 minutes". It is forever dedicated to one of the men the Lord has used to influence me greatly, Bill Bailey. Bill Bailey came Home on April 12, 2002. His influence lives on.

This is a personal arrangement of the Fanny Crosby classic "Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior". The song features my son, Daniel, on the harmonica and Stephanie Irwin singing with me on vocals.

I heard Rich Mullin's version of this old Fanny Crosby hymn and it touched my heart immediately. I had to do a guitar and vocal version of it. I hope you're blessed by it. Mike

1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

A church not willing to offend is not the church of Jesus Christ. The true Gospel divides. When the Word of God is preached in all its purity, the world will not flock to you; it will put you in prison. Mike Wilhoit

I wrote this song one week after I became a grandfather. Savannah was born October 4th, 2005. This song is for her.
