Do you play live?
Yes, frequently. I play on a semi-regular basis at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah as well as perform in concerts several times per year.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It helps unsigned, independent artists to share their talents and creations with the world. Not only does it help them to gain exposure, but also to widen their fan base and become a name that people recognize.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes, if the right opportunity came along.
Band History:
Michele McLaughlin was born in 1974 and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was drawn to piano music from early childhood and would play her favorite songs by ear for friends and family. Michele took piano lessons for a very short period of time, but quit when the lessons took the fun out of playing. Shortly afterwards, when she was 8 years old, she was introduced to the music of George Winston and was instantly moved and inspired by his remarkable talent and style. She would listen to his music, and then play his songs by ear. It was during this time that she began composing and recording her own songs.
In the winter of 2000, Michele released her first album, Beginnings, which included 18 of her favorite compositions she had written over the years. The response she received from friends and family after the release of Beginnings was an overwhelming eye-opener for Michele. She was so moved by the positive feedback and response that she was inspired to work on her second album, Elysium. ??This album was a critical turning point on Michele's musical path. It was due to the encouragement and support she received from friends and family that she made it her goal to try to release an album once a year around Christmastime. She has since produced a total of nine albums (Beginnings, Elysium, The Journey, A Change of Color, The Beginning of Forever, After The Storm, Reflections 2000-2005 ~ The Best of Michele McLaughlin, and Christmas ~ Plain & Simple and Dedication).
Michele’s music can be heard on several online radio stations, including Whisperings Solo Piano Radio (http://www.whisperings.com) with artists such as David Nevue, Jace Vek, David Lanz, Suzanne Ciani, Wayne Gratz and many others as well as Sky.FM – Solo Piano Radio (http://www.sky.fm) In addition, she can also be heard on Music Choice Soundscapes, the digital music station via local digital cable and satellite providers. She someday hopes to be heard on local and national radio stations as well.
Michele's musical influences include George Winston, Jim Brickman, Paul Cardall, David Nevue, Silvard, George Skaroulis, Jon Schmidt, Kevin Kern, Suzanne Cianni and Lori Line. She has been particularly inspired and moved by the music of George Winston.

Your influences?
George Winston is, in my opinion, the most amazing pianist of our time. I began listening to George Winston when I was very young and his music has inspired me over the years in so many wonderful ways. I then discovered Jim Brickman somewhere around 1997 and fell in love with his music as well. It was then that I really started to appreciate piano music and the talents of other artists on deeper level. In 2001 I heard a live performance of Paul Cardall on a local radio station and enjoyed that song so much that I rushed out to buy all of his albums. He is now one of my favorite pianists and a great inspiration for me. After I posted my music on mp3.com in 2002 I discovered the works of David Nevue, another truly amazing pianist. His articles and books about being an independent artist through the internet have had a great influence on me and motivated me to take my music career to new levels. I also discovered Jon Schmidt on mp3.com during that same time and his music has also moved and inspired me. I am a huge fan of a great many other New Age artists as well; Kevin Kern, Lorie Line, Suzanne Cianni, David Lanz, Mannheim Steamroller, Kurt Bestor, Enya, Secret Garden, Ray Lynch, Brian Becvar, Hillary Staag, Gary Stadler, etc. But the artists who have had a true impact on my life are George Winston, Jim Brickman, Paul Cardall, David Nevue and Jon Schmidt. To them, if they were ever to read this... thank you!
Favorite spot?
I love losing myself in my piano... it takes me anywhere and everywhere I want to go. I especially love playing on cold, rainy days... sitting in front of the piano in flannel jammies, sipping at hot cocoa or tea, working on new creations and compositions. I could spend entire days there, lost in my music.
