Living in California, and the father of three children, I started playing music back in the 70's while I lived in Bakersfield. My neighbor came from a long line of musicians that played with some of Bakersfield's most noted musicians. His father also built guitars for Mosrite. Soon as I learned a few cords, the guy had me playing in some of Bakersfield's seediest bars. I moved to Bishop in the 1980's and started playing bass in a band called The Rattlers, for the next 15 years and we played all over the Eastern side of the Sierras. We played mostly in Mammoth, and Bishop but we also played gigs in Northern Nevada, mostly fairs, casinos and other special events. We opened for Chris Le Doux and Michael Martin Murphy at several large venues. The Rattlers played everything from country to top40 rock and roll. I play several instruments from drums to guitars to keys to flute, none of which am I an expert.
My almost meeting with Frank Zappa:
When I was about 11-12 years old I had an uncle that lived very close to me. His girlfriend was Sue Veliet, Captain Beefhearts mom. She lived with my uncle alot of the time especially on the weekends. We would go to her house alot also and spend time with granny, Don's grandmother. Sue was a wonderful lady always a smile on her face and I became very close to the family . In my teens she would tell me story's about stuff that Don and Frank Zappa would get into. One day when Don was home (he wasn't home much) but he played me a tape of songs from the ...

Well HELLS BELLS RICK! How ya been?? I hardly ever look at my page, so just noticed today I had some request's. I checked out your bio,....and dang! It's YOU. Danny told my you were living down in Temecula. What's it been? 10, 15 years? WTF over? Good to see your still playing. Love the Wouldbehasbeen handle, too cool ! Do you ever make it up to the valley any more? It's a freaking wasteland as far a music goes anymore, even worse than before. DJ's, karaoke and the like,....f***in' sad! I think It's somewhat the same everywhere though. Such is life...!?! Well I guess I'll listen to some of your tunes. Keep in touch Daddy-O.
...and don't forget to Boogie!!

Hey,

How's it going? I've been pretty busy myself.

I wanted to let you know that I uploaded a new song called:
"Without You (Ballad of Dona)"
It's actually a previously unpublished song written by my brother Paul back in the 80's. Don't let the title fool you. It's not your everyday ballad. wink ;)
I'd appreciate it if you could take it for a spin when you get a chance and let me know what you think.

I also have given "Slay the Dragon" a complete re-mix. If you liked it before I think you'll really like it now. Turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. I'd appreciate any feedback you can offer.

All of my songs have been recently re-mastered for more dynamic range and a less fatiguing sound. Hopefully this will result in a more pleasant listening experience for all.

More songs coming soon! smile :)
Thank you for your support.
